Ariel Invernizzi Oviedo (ARO) is an Argentine multidisciplinary artist,
born in Havana, Cuba, on September 25, 1989.
His work focuses on the experimentation and composition of various relationships between sound and movement.
Drummer, composer, improviser, and electronic sound artist.
Performer and interpreter.
Manager and curator.
As a musician, he studied Classical Music at the Santa Ana Conservatory, Jazz at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory, Composition under Ricardo Capellano at the same institution, and Expanded Music at the National University of San Martín, along with extensive private training.
He is an active participant in Buenos Aires' improvised, experimental, and interdisciplinary music scene. He has recorded on over twenty albums and taken part in various festivals and artistic residencies.
He collaborates as a curator and organizer of residencies and concert series for the international experimental music label TVL rec.
In 2023, he was awarded the Creation and Research Grant in New Opera by the Williams Foundation and was also a grant recipient for the Winter School program from the same institution. That same year, he was selected by Fundación Proa to create a site-specific work at Proa 21.
Since 2015, he has been developing music and sound design for the performing and interdisciplinary arts. He co-founded the research company Dunzica alongside director and dancer Catalina Briski, with whom he has participated in various national festivals with support from PROTEATRO and INT.
As a solo project, he has released albums both with Argentine labels and independently, including Firto, Antique (NeuNumeral), and Siete Diastemas (Club del Disco). He develops his solo set using real-time audio processing techniques on a drum, combined with performances on stage and collaborating with other musicians and ensembles.
